Watch cholesterol to beat Alzheimer’s
Just in case you needed more reasons to lower your cholesterol, here’s one more.
If you’re middle-aged and your cholesterol is even slightly raised, your risks of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and mental deterioration when you get older, increase signigicantly.
People who have borderline cholesterol levels between 200 and 239mg/dl were 50% more likely to be mentally impaired than those who had normal levels below 200mg/dl.
Apart from making sure your cholesterol numbers are within normal range, there are a few other things you can do to ward off Alzheimer’s. Fortunately, they’re things you should be doing anyway to improve your general health:
- Get plenty of exercise
- Make sure your blood sugar is normal
- Do things that are mentally challenging which keep your brain active
